Multipanel UK, a Devon-based producer and distributor of Aluminium Composite Panel (ACP) products, is relocating part of its manufacturing back to the UK from China, creating up to 50 new jobs.
The company, which was founded by current Managing Director Andrew Cock in 2005, has acquired a 36,000 sq ft site in Mill Yard Way and will begin manufacturing by the end of the year. The company will retain its existing headquarters in Exeter, where it employs 14 people.
The property was sold by industrial and warehouse agents Core Commercial acting on behalf of the LPA Receivers.
Multipanel is a global leader in the production, marketing and distribution of ACP products, which are widely used in the signage and commercial construction industries. Multipanel Alupanel brand ACP products are currently sold in more than 40 countries around the world, including the US where the company maintains a full stocking warehouse in the Chicago area.
Other key markets for Multipanel include Europe and Australia, and it is targeting growth in emerging economies including Africa, Eastern Europe and South America.
It has manufactured its products in China via a joint venture since 2005 and will retain a manufacturing base in the country. However, Andrew Cock says bringing part of its production back to the UK will enable it to offer a faster and more flexible service to its customers.
He says: 'Bringing manufacturing back to the UK gives us greater control over our products and also means that we will be able to produce specials, which are one-off products, much more quickly, resulting in a better service to our customers. The UK is renown for its quality manufacturing and I am pleased to be opening this facility in Dover, which obviously has excellent transport facilities for our products.'
